Yuntech: Implementation of requirements for University students’ English proficiency

Act 1

To set up the regulations for responding to the international competiveness, improving students’ English ability, and strengthening students’ competiveness for career.

Act 2

Students (not including physical and mental disabilities students and international students) who enter the school in 2007 need to pass the standard of the basic English proficiency requirement before graduating.

Students need to participate with the English proficiency test out of school at least one time and pass the test as the level of GEPT intermediate first round. For students of Department of Applied Foreign Language, they need to pass the test as the level of GEPT high-intermediate first round. For students who have requirement before entering the school, the certificate is available.

To raise students’ learning efficiency, the content of English proficiency test is merged with English courses. To be fair and objective, the grading policy is the same for all classes.

The requirement for our school’s basic English proficiency (students need to pass one of the following test.)

(1) GEPT intermediate first round
(2) ITP (TOEFL) 424 above or including
(3) IBT (TOEFL) 38 above or including
(4) IELTS 3.5 level above or including
(5) NEW TOEIC 387above or including
(6) Every kind of English proficiency test as the level of GEPT intermediate first round

After taking the English proficiency test, students need sign up the English proficiency test system to be verified by the department. For students who have not reached the requirement can take the English Enhancement course (including online English courses). After passing the course, the students need to take the simulate English proficiency test in school to graduate.

Every department should examine whether students’ pass the English proficiency test requirement when examining their qualification for graduation.
